Aims

The Geography department at Withernsea High School has a record of innovative teaching, a history of securing high-quality exam grades for students, an extensive resource base and a conviction that good Geography is about students experiencing the full vitality of the planet they live upon. This means we regularly review what we teach, how we teach it, and try to make the subject one which is ‘active' for all students.

Getting involved in geography means we explore our own locality with student surveys, undertake regular fieldwork in the region, make active links with students in schools in Europe and South Africa, and encourage students to develop as responsible and well-informed global citizens. We are proud of the experiences we share with our students, but - never complacent - insist that our best is yet to come.
