Student Voice

In the Summer of 2006 the History Department carried out a major survey of the way students viewed their time in History lessons. We were very pleased with the outcome of this extensive research and some of the headlines are given below.
Sixth-form students overwhelmingly expressed the opinion that they were well taught in their History lessons and that the advice they were given by their teachers was valuable.
Sixth formers also agreed that the materials and notes they were given by the department were easy to use.
Sixth-form lessons were described as fun, enjoyable and well planned.
At GCSE students praised the standard of teaching and said the lessons were fun. They said the lesson materials were easy to use and were valuable for revision when it came to exam time. In Key Stage 3, students rated History teaching equally highly. They said the lessons were interesting, challenging and well delivered. Many students commented on how positive the relationships were between staff and students. Many others commented on how good behaviour was in History lessons.
For these reasons History remains one of the most popular option subjects at GCSE and A-Level.
