Extension Activities :
BRONZE Globe Challenge : Choose one aspect of Japan to research yourself using the links above and any other websites you can find. Produce a powerpoint, or word document to show your information. Include at least one photo, one map, some statistics (numbers) and one new story. Add a 100 word Summary in your own words to show what you have discovered.
SILVER Globe Challenge : Produce a powerpoint comparing Britain and Japan. What 'similarities' do the two countries have, and what differences? Research such things as location / climate / landscape / jobs / family life / city life / school life ..... and anything else you can find. Conclusion - do you think the two countries have more 'similarities' or more 'differences'?
GOLD Globe Challenge : What do you think is the biggest problem facing the Japanese in the next 10 years? Is it Volcanoes and Eathquakes, Problems of Cities and Lack of Space, Problems with Pollution and Industry, or Difficulties in Families..... or something else? Choose ONE of these problems to investigate. Present your own research which includes 'Evidence' using photos, maps, news articles and your own suggestions. Find out why it's such a serious problem, who it's a problem for, and what can be done about it
